Miley Cyrus is sharing her healing in a new song as she moves past her heartbreak.
The singer, who has achieved success in a variety of music genres such as country, rock, and pop, released “Flowers,” the lead single from her upcoming 13-track album “Endless Summer Vacation,” on Friday.
After experiencing heartbreak, Cyrus sings in the song about discovering self-love. With a chorus of her own, Cyrus appears to respond to Bruno Mars’ famous lines “I should have bought you flowers / And held your hand / Should have given you all my hours / When I had the chance / Take you to every party ’cause all you wanted to do was dance” in the 2012 song “When I Was Your Man.”
The song was released by Cyrus on Liam Hemsworth’s 33rd birthday, which her fans suspect was no coincidence.
Ten years after they first met on a film set, Cyrus and Hemsworth called it quits in 2019. They were married for less than a year. The former couple got together in 2009 while filming a version of “The Last Song” by Nicholas Sparks, and they declared their engagement in 2012. Early in 2016, Cyrus started wearing her engagement ring once more. The couple wed in Tennessee in December 2018.
In a 2020 interview with Rolling Stone, Cyrus revealed that in contrast to how she had been portrayed, she had been unhappy and was headed in a dark direction in 2018.
“She has a man, I hear. She is acting the role of a wife in a house.” Cyrus stated, mentioning the fact that she was also experimenting with drugs and alcohol. “Dude, I was way more off my path then than I had ever been before, and my sanity was being questioned.”
